[Ever since Ken got here, he was curious about the combat quests. The problem was how he couldn't do it alone with his magic. Luckily, there was someone who was willing to help him out with the quest.

As he looked at the bonfire, he looked back at the older boy before giving a small nod.]

Right, hopefully we can figure out who is behind all of this. [He said before walking closer to the fire. Gripping his spear tightly, it was almost as if he was ready for an incoming attack.]

[fooligans]

[ Upon closer inspection it becomes apparent that the fire is moving and it's quite fast on top of that. ]

It's—

[ A few more steps forward make a big difference; the bonfire is shaped like a big cat which baffles Akira a little. It seems to be chasing a bird that tries to escape desperately. ]

I suppose we need to deal with it somehow...

[ Needlessly to say, he's not thrilled. ]

[Now that Ken got a better look at the fire, he couldn't help but laugh at the situation. He had his fair share of fighting shadows but knowing it was a cat behind all of this?]

I'm not sure if my abilities would work. I could try talking to the cat and see if we can tell it to stop!

[Needless to say, that's when the boy tried to talk to said fire cat] Sorry to interrupt but I think you might need to stop. You're hurting the bird!

I'll be right behind you just in case.

[ He'd rather not hurt the big fire cat (just look at it), but if worse comes to worst, Akira knows that he'll have to at least fend it off.

Fougeria doesn't even take its eyes off the bird while replying to Ken: ]

That's the point! I'm going to catch it! Don't get in my way!

[ To Akira it's just a roaring sound, though. ]

Isn't there another way to get it without destroying the area?

[Was getting the bird that important? Although, he figured or else there wouldn't be a quest for this reason.

At the same time, he looked at Akira with a look that said "We are going to be here for while."]

[ Akira shifts his gaze from Ken to Fougeria and back to the boy. Even if it's going to take a while, he doesn't mind as long as they can somehow prevent the fire from spreading. ]

[ It's a good moment to empty his pockets and reveal that he has an emergency cat snack. For his Familiar. Who's totally not a cat. That earns Akira a look from Cat Sidhe but he doesn't say anything. ]

[With that, Ken just looked back at him with a raised eyebrow. At the same time, his familiar, Jack Frost also gave him the same look.]

Akira-san, I know your familiar is a cat, but is he really that demanding?

[Why would he have emergency snacks around?]

[ What if Fougeria eats just like this. Is it a fire lion or a hungry hippo... ]

It looks like it was really hungry. Maybe now it'll go away at least.

[ Or it might actually become more aggressive after getting its food, welp. ]

[If it does, it’ll be all the above. Who said the fire cat can’t be a hippo lion?

As Ken just stared at the creature, that’s when it started to speak up!]

I want some more! I’m still hungry!

[Now what?]

[ While Akira doesn't really understand what it's saying, he figures out that it might not be enough for Fougeria. ]

I don't have any more tuna on me...

[ The fact that he had any is already...well. Something. ]

How about I eat you instead? You're bigger!!

[ Fougeria NO ]

W-What is it saying?

[Ken didn’t mean to blurt out what it said but he couldn’t help himself. Giving the fire cat a look of horror, he had to say this:]

No, you can’t eat him! Why would you say that?!

[He wasn’t sure if Fougeria was being serious or not but he had take it as a threat!]

Please tell me you’re joking...

[fooligans]

I haven't done negotiations in a while...

[ Why would a teenager negotiate in the first place? This is a mystery... ]

Do you know any jokes?

[ It worked in Mementos so maybe it will work here, too. Although Akira isn't so sure anymore. ]

Why would jokes work at a time like this?

[Wasn't he more worried about being eaten by said fire cat? But if he wasn't, Ken just crossed his arms before looking up in the air.]

I think I got one? What did the cat say when the owner started petting him?

[Wait for it....!]

"Purrfect!" [Junpei would be so proud]

Well...let's say that it sometimes works in some other circumstances.

[ In the meantime, Akira's familiar shakes its head and crosses its paws because it can't give him a thumb down.

As for Fougeria...it seems confused. Very confused. Growing impatient and more annoyed, it starts growling which makes Akira do the first thing that comes to his mind—trapping the creature inside a bubble he's made with magic. Too bad it's not very durable. ]

I think there's no other way than to fight.

[ And he's not happy about this. ]

[At the same time, Ken was frustrated how he had to make such a lame joke only for the creature to be mad at him! Not to mention how both the familiars were judging him so badly right now.

All that work for nothing!

But now he could see Fougeria was getting ready to attack, placed his spear in front of him. If it's a fight, the cat will get one.]

Then how shall we fight it? I'm not sure what I could do with my magic but I can try to convince some other animals to help.

[ To be fair, if Akira was one to tell a joke, it would be pretty much similar to Ken's, so the outcome would be most likely the same. ]

Try calling for back-up if you can, I'll try something.

[ Since his magic is of the elemental kind, Akira has been working on trying to at least learn a spell or two from each element. ]

If you can keep it busy for a while, I'll be thankful.

[ Casting a spell still takes a while, whoops. ]

I'll try but hopefully the animals nearby would be willing to help me out! Jack Frost, distract it!

[He said before looking around the area. While his familiar would be the one to distract the fire cat (by letting it chase after him!), Ken started to look for backup. As he does so, he does manage to find some birds flocking around.

Although, once he does start talking to them?]

But I don't have any food with me! All I can do is promise you I'll give some later!

[...Birds can be terrible beings sometimes.]

[ Although Akira needs to focus on the spell, he realizes that Ken has run into some problems. The video tutorials on magic make it look like something easy, but in reality, Akira's struggling as well. The spell was supposed to be a whirlpool and yet it comes off more like someone was spraying water from a bottle on Fougeria. ]

Bad cat...

[ At least it stops Fougeria from chasing Jack Frost as its busy dodging the water. Also, he'll have to ask why Ken's familiar looks like that later. ]

Ken-kun, is everything okay?

[Alas, the tutorials could only do so much as Ken kept trying to negotiate with the birds about the cost and benefits of providing assistance to a quest. To outsiders, it looked Ken was talking to a bunch of birds as they make random noises at him.

However, he was too busy to even realize what Ren was doing. It wasn't until he turned around and looked at him.]

Yea, I'm doing fine. It's mostly these birds aren't helping unless they get some kind of compensation.

[Which involves food.]

[ What happened to being selfless and helping others out? Animals are so wild. ]

Will breadcrumbs be enough? A...lot of breadcrumbs?

[ Akira really doesn't know much about birds, huh. ]

[Selfless? Psh, perish the thought when it comes to animals!]

No, they said they wanted bread. And ones that people just baked.

[He said before the birds started to create a huge uproar in the background!]
