Character Wiki: https://megamitensei.fandom.com/wiki/Ken_Amada
APPEARANCE: Here!
ABILITIES: In Persona 3, there are people who have the 'Potential'. It means they possess the potential to summon a Persona, beings that are like guardian figures to fight against beings called shadows, the negative emotions of humans that take form. However, he can’t summon it without his Evoker, a fake gun.
Ken’s Persona is Kala-Nemi.
-Persona: Kala-Nemi has many magical abilities. Most of what he can do is mostly based on light, thunder, physical and healing based abilities. These abilities include Ziodyne (heavy thunder attack), Mediarahan (Healing the entire cast), Hamaon (One Hit KO with Light), and Vile Assault (Allows him to heavy pierced attack on his enemies.) With this, Kala-Nemi is weak against dark magic.
If you want more of an explanation, let me know!
-Combat/Spear Skills: Ken has been fighting shadows since he was 10. He knows how to fight with a spear and understands the basics of physical combat. Since he uses a spear to fight, he is a long range attacker. However, he is only 13 so his attacks can only do so much. He also doesn’t know how to fight should an enemy come up to him in short range combat.
-Middle School Athlete: He plays on the soccer team and thus, is in top form for a middle schooler. However, he is still just 13 and still gets tired easily. He can run as fast as he could but there are limits.
SUITABILITY: Ken has dealt with a lot of death, horror, and other questionable issues at a young age. For instance, when he was 9, he already had to witness the death of his mother in front of his eyes. This created a lot of psychological trauma as he coped with it by attempting to plot revenge against his mother’s killer. He dealt with this for the next two years without any help from anyone. With this, he is used to violence as he has witnessed his friend being shot and dealing with fighting various shadows.
Ken is also used to subjecting himself to questionable horroric things. This includes shooting himself with a fake gun in order to summon his Persona, mentally preparing himself to kill his mother’s killer, and killing a copy of himself. He’s also used to fighting horror monsters as he faced several during his time in SEES as these creatures can range from shadowy formless blobs to a shadow hanging upside down and being held by chains.
Finally, he understands the idea of suicide and depression very well as he was planning on killing himself as soon as he got his revenge. While Ken has gotten better at dealing with these issues, it doesn’t stop him from dealing with those feelings from time to time.

PERSONALITY.
● Your character has a chance to undo a terrible mistake, but in doing so, there could be unintended consequences for everyone they know. Is it worth the risk? Or should the dead stay dead?
Ken firmly believes the dead should stay dead. He had to deal with this similar issue in “The Answer” as everyone was debating over if they should bring the male main character back to life. However, in doing so, they would bring about the end of the world again. Ken’s answer was how he didn’t want to go against the male main character’s wish as he used all of his life’s energy to save them. It would be rude to just take that away from him as it was a choice the main character made willingly.
Even without the events from The Answer, Ken would still want the dead to stay dead. The boy had to deal with three deaths all for the sake of protecting him. He has a somewhat biased view of death as he believes it can also be a choice someone makes willingly. Furthermore, he knows it’s disrespectful to mess with the dead given how he had to fight against the Goddess of Death herself. The idea of death is also symbolic of him trying to put the past behind him. Since Ken had to deal with so many deaths in his life, he knows he can’t sit around and mope. It would also be disrespectful to them who helped him out.
● If your character had the option to permanently lose the ability to feel certain negative emotions like fear or grief, or permanently forget certain memories, would they take it? What if they will never know that something has been taken from them? Does loss only matter if it's known what's missing?
No, Ken wouldn’t as it would prevent any growth. He said to Labyrs that when people are down, they only want to hear what they want to hear. He said it would hurt to hear the truth but it is better than being lied to. He also mentioned how he was also talking about himself too. That implies Ken wouldn’t want to remove any negative feelings as it doesn’t seem fair. All of the emotions he felt from his past is what allowed him to become a stronger person and help him move forward from his past.
In Persona 3, Ken was also given the option to forget the end of the world was happening too. He refused that offer as he believed in fighting for humanity. This also suggests that he would continue to live on despite feeling so many things that would weigh him down.
Ken isn’t the type who would want to hide things from people. Even if people wouldn’t know what was taken from them, it would only be a matter of time before they find out the truth. Ken’s arcana is justice so he doesn’t want people to hide what is to be known. Loss is still a loss even if they don’t know what they’re missing. It’s only fair to tell them.
● Could your character ever forgive themselves for something morally wrong that they've done? No matter how much time has passed? No matter how much penitence has been done? Is being sorry enough to be a good person?
While Ken didn’t kill Shinjiro, he does feel responsible for being involved. He does struggle with forgiving himself as he feels the need to protect as many people as he could to prevent people getting hurt for his sake. While he knows he can’t blame himself since he was young, it doesn’t stop him from trying his best to do good on his promise to live life to the fullest for his, his mother, and the male main character’s sake.
After the events of Persona 3, he is trying to become a better version of himself such as trying to be an athlete, a member of the student council, and getting good grades because that’s what he is suppose to do as a way to make it up to them. However, there is a part of him that will always feel like no matter what he has done will never be enough.
That being said, he knows that being sorry for the sake of being sorry just won’t cut it either. He knows he has to reach out to as many people as he could to prevent others from making the same mistake he did. Right now, Ken is trying to put the past behind him and move forward while trying to forgive himself.
● Your character has a secret they have been sworn to, but revealing this secret could save the lives of countless others. Is it worth breaking the promise to save others, or is betrayal never justifiable?
Generally speaking, Ken would risk betrayal for the sake of saving others. Whenever he fought during the Dark Hour, he was aware that he could die at any minute. However, it would be worth it to help protect people. This also extends to his current canon point as he rushed right into battle without any hesitation just to help his teammates out simply because he wanted to save them.
However, he would also risk betraying his teammates too for the sake of saving countless others. During the events of The Answer, he had to do that. While he didn’t have a secret to keep, his desire to prevent another end of the world is that strong where he would betray the people he cares about.
Personally, Ken does need to see the cost and benefits of betrayal. He is someone who likes to look at both sides before making a final judgement. Given after everything he’s been through, he is someone who is a lot more logical and likes to know if something is worth the risk. Furthermore, Ken is a very heroic kid as he wants to believe in justice. He wants to do the morally right thing no matter what.
● Has your character ever gotten joy out of hurting others, physically or mentally? If they have, does it scare them?
No, Ken never got joy about doing that to someone. He’s not the sadistic type nor is he one to kill someone unless it is through extreme circumstances.
The closest Ken has ever gotten joy out of hurting someone is getting revenge on his mother’s killer, Shinjiro. However, it wouldn’t be so much joy as a sense of relief knowing he has found a purpose for staying alive after his mother’s death. Even then, it was clear he had to convince himself for a month to follow through with the plan. He also immediately regretted his actions after Shinjiro died. With his canon point, the idea that he went this far to kill Shinjiro does scare Ken. He had said how he doesn’t want anyone to protect him anymore because of what Shinjiro did for him. Looking back, it’s clear that Ken does regret his actions and wants to prevent others from making the same mistake he did.
That same sense of relief can be applied to Shinjiro’s killer, Takaya, as he was more happy to just put a stop to his actions despite his hatred toward him. He never killed him, he wanted Takaya to just realize the error of his ways.
As for the time Ken has actually killed someone, it was his shadow. The only reason why Ken had to kill it was because if it didn’t, it would create more chaos and hurt people. Even so, Ken didn’t find much joy as he was just relieved knowing he didn’t have to worry about it again.
